  “  Conquering Temptations “

Intro:  What is a food that you cannot resist when it is offered to you ?

 

Study

  1. Romans 8:37, John 3:3-5 When we accept Christ we are born again, we are born into a life
    of salvation and victory found only in Jesus which allows us to conquer everything in our way.

    1. Matt 26:41  One of the main things that pulls many youth and young adults away from God, causes them to backslide and keeps them from completing the purpose God has for their lives is temptation.
      1. 1 Cor 15:33  Many youth and young adults who start off on fire for God fall into temptation as soon as they get around the wrong people, or get put in the wrong situations
      2. Eph 4:27, Eph 6:12-18 We must remember that there is a spiritual battle taking place all around us, and that the devil will throw everything he can at us, and will hit our weak areas in order to stop us from growing in God and from completing his plan for our lives.
    2. Heb 12:1-2, Psalms 108:13 The good news is that God provides us a way to avoid temptation and overcome everything that wants to get in our way and stop us if we will keep our eyes fixed on him.
  2. 1 Cor 1:13, Gen 1:26 Jesus himself faced temptation and Jesus was completely victorious over temptation. Because Jesus conquered temptation, and we are created in his image, we too can conquer temptation.
    1. 1 Cor 11:1  We need to therefore follow the example of Christ so that we too can conquer every temptation that comes our way.
      1. Luke 5:16 Jesus prayed daily, read the word of God, and was busy spending his time doing the work of God, rather than waisting his time being idle and doing nothing.
      2. 1 Thess 5:22  Jesus also set the perfect example for us by not putting himself in compromising positions, and by avoiding all appearances of evil.
    2. James 1:12  We too need to be faithful in prayer, the bible, doing the work of God, and avoiding giving the devil any foothold in our lives. If we choose to do these things imitating the example of Christ then we too will conquer temptation! #Borntoconquer!

  1. What are some of the main temptations that youth and young adults face that try and pull them away from God?
  2. Who are some of the wrong people and what are some of the wrong situations that we should avoid that can lead us to fall into temptation?
  3. What are some of the changes we should make in our lives and things we can do that will help us conquer temptation ?
  4. What is a temptation you are facing right now in your personal life that you want conquer? Are you ready to surrender this temptation to God? if not what is holding you back?

End: Pray for those who want to conquer every temptation in their lives, pray for any who need to accept Christ, then take requests.
