A Generation with Questions

Intro: If you could ask God any question in the world, and he would answer, what would it be and why?

Study

      1. 1 Pet 3:15, 2 Tim 2:15 We must be equipped to know how to respond to a cynical generation full of questions, we must speak truth in love.
      2. Mt 7:6, Is 50:4 We are not called to argue with people, but at the same time, we must hold firmly to the truth of Gods word, and not be swayed.
    2. Ecc 1:4 Most of the questions that are being asked in this generation are about God, or about things that happen in life that don’t make sense.
  2. John 16:33 Many times things happen in life that we don’t understand, events that occur that are painful and difficult, and people are left with questions.
    1. Isaiah 55:8 Many people are bitter, not understanding why God allowed these things to take place in their lives, so they reject God, and fall away.
      1. Ps 33:13, Josh 1:5 God has a purpose for every thing that happens in life, he sees every pain, hurt, and struggle and will redeem all, if we serve him.
      2. Rom 8:28, Ps 146:6 God doesn’t promise to answer all our questions, but he is faithful, and will use every event in our lives for our good, and his purposes.
    2. Jer 3:22, Joel 2:25 We must not allow our questions make us bitter at God, or drive us to backslide, if we surrender, and trust him, he will restore us.

Discussion

  1. What are some common questions about God, or Christianity that you have heard people in this generation ask? How should we respond to such questions?
  2. What are some personal questions that you have dealt with, either about God, or about something that has happened that you don’t understand?
  3. How should we respond to a generations that accepts a form of Godliness, but questions, and challenges the core beliefs of our Faith?
  4. Do you know someone who is angry at God and is not a Christian because of unanswered questions in their lives? How are you ministering to them?

End: Pray for any who are bitter at God, or have even backslidden over unanswered questions, then take requests.
