Our new Identity in Christ
Intro: If you could be any age right now, what age would you choose, and why?
Study
- 2 Cor 5:17, John 3:3 When we accept Jesus as our savior, we begin a completely new life in Christ, we start the journey of discovering our true identity.
- 1 John 1:9 It doesn’t matter what we did, how bad we messed up, or what mistakes we made, when we surrender to God we are forgiven.
- 2 Chron 7:14 Not only does God forgive us when we humbly repent before him, God also begins the process of restoring every part of our lives.
- Rev 12:11 God will use the past experiences of our lives as a testimony that we can use to reach others who are lost and confused.
- Gen 1:27-29, Joel 2:25 When we accept Christ we begin the process of discovering our true identity, who God made us to be, and what Gods purpose for us is in this world.
- 1 John 1:9 It doesn’t matter what we did, how bad we messed up, or what mistakes we made, when we surrender to God we are forgiven.
- Ephesians 4:22-24 When we accept Christ everything becomes new, we need to let go of our old sinful ways, relationships, habits, and bad influences.
- Gal 2:20, Luke 9:23 As we follow Christ the Holy Spirit will work in us to change our old sinful nature into the nature of Christ.
- John 14:15 The proof of our commitment to Christ is that our lives will be changed, if our love for God is real, then we will be different, if we live a hypocritical Christian life, than we don’t truly love God.
- Rev 21:5 This means that our relationships, thoughts, attitudes, priorities, lifestyle, and all areas of our lives become new through Christ.
- Col 3:9-10, 1 Peter 1:23 When we surrender to God, he is able to forgive us, change us, bless us, and use us to do great things for him in this world!
- Gal 2:20, Luke 9:23 As we follow Christ the Holy Spirit will work in us to change our old sinful nature into the nature of Christ.

- In what ways has your life changed since you have surrendered to Christ, What areas is God working on in your life right now?
- In what ways has God used the past experiences of your personal testimony to minister to others?
- What are some of the things in our lives that will change if our love for God and commitment to Christ is real?
- Are there any here tonight who feel there are areas in your life that you need to surrender completely to Christ, if so what areas?
