Discovering Gods will

 

Intro: Would you rather live at the north pole with cold or in the desert with the heat and why?

Study

  1. 2 Cor 5:17, John 3:3 When we accept Jesus as our savior, we begin a completely new life in Christ, we start the journey of discovering our true identity.
    1. Deut 28:13-14 Another important aspect of discovering our true identity in God is to discover what the will of God is for our lives.
      1. Jeremiah 29:11-13 God has a perfect plan for each of our lives, God knows what direction we should go, what we should do in life, and who we should marry, and he will reveal his will to us in his perfect timing.
      2. Matt 6:33, Josh 1:5 When we follow God, wait on God and obey Gods will for our lives, then God will be with us, and bless us in every way.
    2. Prov 16:25 However if we choose to go our own way, and do our will over Gods will, then we will have much confusion, struggles, and many problems.
  2. Eph 5:17, Prov 3:5-6 Each of us must choose to surrender our own will, so we can discover what Gods will is for our lives.
    1. 1 Cor 15:33 In order to discover Gods will, we need to first let go of every wrong relationship, and all negative influences so we can clearly hear Gods voice.
      1. Psalms 17:14 We need to be patient, remain faithful, pray and fast and be open for God to speak to us in whatever way he wants.
      2. John 14:15 We also need to be willing to do whatever God tells us, even if it is not what we want, and if it appears to be harder than what we thought.
    2. Rom 8:28, Isaiah 55:8 We need to trust God and allow him to lead and guide us, as we trust God we will see him do awesome things through our lives!

 

Discussion

 

  1. What are some of the reasons many youth and young adults have a hard time following Gods will?
  2. Who has an example of time when you went your own way, ignoring Gods will and suffered for it?
  3. Who has a testimony of a time when you followed Gods will when it was very difficult to do, and in the end you saw God do something awesome in your life?
  4. Is there anyone right now who needs to know what Gods will is for your life or in a particular situation? if so what is the situation?

 

End: Pray for any who need to get saved, or rededicate their lives to Christ, then pray for any who need to know Gods will for their lives right now, then take requests.
