“Empowered to Reach the World” Lesson #8
“The purpose of the power”
Intro: What is your favorite time of the year, and why?
Study
- James 1:15, Rom 6:23 In all countries, all cultures, in all parts of the world the problem of sin is the same! The Bible tells us that the consequence of sin is death, the only solution for sin is Jesus.
- Mark 16:15 Every one of us as Christians are called to the same purpose, to win as many people to Jesus as we possibly can, our purpose is to reach the world!
- 1 Cor 12:8-11 As we discussed throughout this series, God will anoint us with the power of the Holy Spirit and equip us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we can truly be effective in reaching the world!
- Isaiah 61:1 God will pour out the power of the Holy Spirit in our churches, Crossfire camps, crusades, and other events, not so that we can go home after the events and do nothing with the power of the Holy Spirit, but rather so that we can go out and reach the world!
- Luke 24:49, Acts 1:8 The purpose of the power of the Holy Spirit is to anoint us to win people to Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit will anoint us to reach the world!
- Mark 16:15 Every one of us as Christians are called to the same purpose, to win as many people to Jesus as we possibly can, our purpose is to reach the world!
- Mathew 10:8, Acts 20:35 When the Holy Spirit heals you, delivers you, saves you, and sets you free, it is so you can go out and bring the same healing, deliverance, and saving power of God to others, not so you can keep it all to yourself.
- James 1:22 Many Christians are not active in evangelism, and they give many excuses and reasons as to why they feel they are exempt from obeying God’s command to evangelize!
- James 4:17 Some Christians feel they don’t know how to evangelize, others think it is not their gifting, still others say it is only the pastor’s job to evangelize, and they use these reasons as excuses to remain silent and not be active in evangelism.
- James 2:26 When we choose to give into fear and excuses and remain inactive in evangelism, we will never see the full anointing and power of God active in our lives.
- 1 Thess 1:5 However when we choose to trust God, step out in obedience, and use the talents and giftings God has given us to evangelize, we will see the purpose of the power of God active in our lives, we will fulfil God’s plan for us, and we will do our part to #reachthworld!
- James 1:22 Many Christians are not active in evangelism, and they give many excuses and reasons as to why they feel they are exempt from obeying God’s command to evangelize!
Discussion
1. What are some of the main excuses Christians give as to why they are not evangelizing and actively winning others to Jesus?
2. Can you give an example of a time when you stepped out in obedience and shared Christ with someone God told you to evangelize and the Holy Spirit anointed you powerfully, what happened?
3. Why is the power of the Holy Spirit absolutely essential for us to be able to be successful in evangelism and doing our part in reaching the world?
4. What is a location or group of people you feel God is now calling you to evangelize? What steps are you taking in order to reach those people with the Gospel and do your part in reaching the world?
End: Pray for any who want to be filled with the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit so they can be effective in evangelism and reaching the world, then take requests.
