Who is God ?

 

Intro: What is one question that you would like to ask God when you get to heaven?

 

Study

  1. Col 3:1-4, 1 Peter 2:9 One of the most important issues facing this generation in all parts of the world is the question of Identity.
    1. Mark 8:27-29 Many youth and young adults are not only searching for their own identity, they are also asking the question “Who is God ?”
      1. Rom 12:2, Jer 9:24 There are many who are confused about the identity of God because of who the world, friends, parents or teachers say God is.
      2. John 16:33 There are others who have a wrong idea of who God is because of people who have hurt them, or because of bad things that have happened to them.
    2. Matt 16:13-16 This generation is asking many questions about God, they want to know is God real? Who is God to me? Can he change my life and heal my pain?
  2. 1 Cor 4:4, John 8:44 The devil is lying to this generation, he wants to deceive people into thinking God is not faithful, that God doesn’t care, or even that God isn’t real.
    1. Rom 1:20-21 We are living in a world that is confused about the reality of God, and the identity of who God is.
      1. Psalms 111:10 The way that we discover the identity of who God is begins with our personal salvation, when we accept Christ we gain true wisdom.
      2. Jer 29:11-14, Prov 8:17 We continue to discover the truth of who God is as we seek him in prayer, trust him, obey him, and surrender areas of our lives to him.
    2. 2 Cor 5:20, 2 Cor 4:7 God wants us to then communicate the true identity of who he is to the lost and dying world around us.

  1. What are some of the main questions that this generation is asking about God in our world today?
  2. What are some of the reasons you believe there are so many today who are confused on who God is?
  3. What are some wrong perceptions that people can have about God because of bad things that have happen in the world, or happen to them?
  4. What are some ways that we can communicate the truth about who God is to the lost and dying world around us?

 

End: Pray for any who are currently struggling with the identity of God, pray for any who need to accept Christ, or rededicate their lives to Christ, then take requests.
