How do you know what teachings are false?

  1. Mark 13:22, 2 Pet 2:1 The Bible warns us that in the last days, there will be false teachers, and false teachings that will lead many away from Christ.
    1. 1 Tim 4:1 These teachings will appeal to our flesh, and at first will appear to be good, but in reality they are doctrines of demons.
      1. Matthew 7:20 The bible tells us that you will know them by their fruit, their are two main ways we can identify false teachers, and false teachings.
      2. Gal 5:19-21,Rom1:27-32 False teachers will question the moral absolutes of the bible, they justify homosexuality, premarital sex, drugs, and drunkenness.
    2. Mt 24:23-25 False Teachers will question the churches teachings, doubt a literal heaven and hell, Trinity, salvation alone through Christ, and other absolutes.
  2. 2 Cor 11:14, 2 Tim 3:5 The Bible warns us that in the last days, these false teachers will appear to be good, but will deny the absolute truth and power of God.
    1. 1 Tim 1:3-4 Many of these teachings look good focusing on human needs, peace, unity, but will deny sin, and reject the absolute truth of scripture.
      1. Jer 3:22, 15:6 Those who are deceived don’t even realize they are backsliding and loosing their salvation, they think they have discovered deeper truth.
      2. Rom 13:1-2 We must stay close to God, in the word of God, and planted under spiritual authority, false teachers despise and defy spiritual authority.
    2. Titus 3:10-11, John 8:44 False teachings are very dangerous, although we love the deceived people , God commands us to stand firm against these lies.

  3. How can we guard ourselves from backsliding, by being pulled away by false teachings? Why is it so important to stand strong against false teachings?
